Re: REACHING, EXPLORING, MELTING is up on YOUTUBE!

Hey Frank,

Reaching, Exploring, Melting? sounds like you’re on your way to the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. But seriously, great show.

My first instinct is to say it takes courage to give a performance like that, but upon further consideration, you are just being you. It’s weird to say that being ourselves is a courageous act. I think a more accurate way to describe the situation is that being ourselves is a normal, healthy act (as long as we don’t hurt others). However, if being ourselves means going against cultural norms, than we might be perceived as courageous… or just crazy. So your performance actually says far more about society than it does about you.

But frankly Frank, I just think it’s fun to be a part of. Looking forward to the next show.

Sincerely, Jeff

nothing better than the perfect grilled sandwich!

i agree about the courage bit. it is just doing the job of an artist. saying it is courage is actually a part of the process of draining power from the work by distancing it. what it actually is is taking responsibility for pushing against walls.

PEOPLE GET IT!

DA BOYZ:

At the store, Corey ran into Gerhard, a Curtis St. neighbor on the Albany side … he and his wife are always walking up and down the street, and Corey had talked to them at the store, and we have talked with them a bunch just out in front of the house. He had followed Frank’s campaign, and was now asking what was new in the Frank Moore community, now that the campaign was over? Corey told him about the two tours to L.A., and the upcoming series at Temescal Arts Center in Oakland. He said something like there was always something going on! He said that he has been checking out the websites, and followed the campaign, etc., and said that “Frank catalyzes what is usually invisible …” He had listened to one of the shaman’s dens online, it sounded like it was with Aimee Allison, who was then running for city council in Oakland, and said that it was really amazing, the synergy of the two of them, and what they brought out in the conversation … He was really impressed with Frank and what we did. Corey also told him about Ruth Spivak and her daughter and the possible engagement at UC Santa Barbara. He was really moved by that. He said to say hi to Frank from him.

Fwd: Re: theatre of note show

btw, chuck, what did you think of my band?

hey Frank,

I’m not a very good music critic. I grew up on Texas rhythm & blues, rock, metal and eased on in to folk, bluegrass and reaggae/tribal,etc…. I guess your band was experie-mental jazz and I liked the sound. Nice drums, too.

No offence to Linda & Jen.

i just picked up the drummer right before we went on stage! i often pick up even more than half of my band from other acts in the shows. but that night, except for the drummer, they were all vets of my band. the keyboard/accordion player has played with me for years in the bay area. the same with the guys from the l.a. tribal group HOP FROG…ever since we double billed at a l.a. downtown japanese restaurant years ago! and the other guitarist, jeff COSMIC STARFISH, just took the plunge during the previous l.a. trip 2 months ago. he is now addicted!

i like your description experie-mental jazz. i would add “tribal” to it.

would you say your response to my piece has evolved, expanded, deepen?

Re: Me as punk (Vinnie Spit)

Ya know, I really get annoyed when people write articles about greatness but have no idea what they’ve actually seen.

Here’s my review:
Frank Moore, Linda, Mikey and Erika are beautiful people who make beautiful and original art.

Period. That’s it. No need for a bunch of unnecessary analytics.

shucks, vinnie. and they don’t seem to realize that they are revealing a lot about themselves.

Re; Zero-Point

Hey Frank,

There’s a new performance space in LA.

A Franky place…

http://zeropointspace.org

Miss you, Jeffrey

Oh crap… Zero-Point is closed. Guess it was just new to me.

Art spaces come and go in this town.

I’ll let you know if I find out about anything new and exciting.

oh, well! nice try! we are still recovering from the last l.a. trip. so i am not sure when we will ready to make that trip again. and they are trying to bring us to u.c. san barbara in april to lecture and/or perform [i may need musicians]..which will require a recovery period. so we have time to find another l.a. “franky place.”

Re: Me as punk

Hey!

Punk is a word, if you have to ask what it is, you’ll never understand it. (among punk friends it’s ‘a little bit hipper than hip’ -) and………and SOME PUNKS ARE ONES who might kiss the lepor on the mouth as St. Francis did, and will kill themselves for a two hour performance, where the performer subsidizes the audience who will be mostly poor, and punk is one of the screaming cogs in the wheel of anarchy, Punk is acquainted with the alleyways and hide-outs under bridges where they will find more angels than devils (such as ‘angel’ poet of the SF alleys and streeets, Sparrow 13, who has ‘read poetry’ with Julia Vinograd who is a fan of his work. – Punk never thouhtlessly smashes a flower under foot. Punk likes fun. Rhythm, song, dance, cartwheels, skateboard, clowning, John the Baker cookies, jam sessions till guitarists have bloody fingers. All night long! Punk is warm rain in your face and a sweet friend beside you. Punk is someone who fell off the ‘norm’ chart and has been dangling giddily since then at the edge of the ‘below below the below of the underground – thanks to Malvina Reynolds for “below the below” in song) Punks are ‘fiercely’ heart-first!!!!

yep.

funny. i knew back then we freaked out a lot of punks …that’s why dirk had me there for over 3 years on at least a weekly basis. and vale was one of the freaked outs…which this reveals. when i have talked about it, people didn’t believe it because vale documented the extreme subcultures in REsearch…so why would i freak him out!?
