Forbidden Fruit

I'm sixteen years older
But the memory is achingly sweet
Cherries--o how sweet--
No hint of the bitter end
Of a friendship.
Naiveté made me blind to the consequences
Of tasting forbidden fruit.
It changed our lives forever.
