I began my life in art by playing with oil paints in 1963. Since then, my paintings have been exhibited around the U.S.A. and Canada. Most of my paintings of nudes are of strangers who I approached and asked if I could paint them.

This method led me in the early 70's into performance art, experimental theatre, and shamanism. I started doing private, erotic performances, non-films.

I paint with a brush on a hardhat. Because of this, I can only reach a quarter of the canvas at a time. So Linda kept turning the canvas. That's right! I paint sideways and upside-down!

BAMPFA’s (UC Berkeley’s art museum)
is having a solo exhibit
of Frank’s oil paintings
from January 25 to April 23, 2023.

Two of Frank’s oil paintings, “Patti Smith” and “Mariah” were added to BAMPFA’s (UC Berkeley’s art museum) permanent collection earlier this year. See photos of them picking up the paintings here.

One of Frank's oil paintings, “Patti Smith”, is included in the current exhibition , “Way Bay 2” , at the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA). See photos from the exhibit by Keith Wilson here.

“Way Bay 2” is the second exhibition in a series covering artwork from the San Francisco Bay Area over two centuries. Way Bay 2 runs from June 13 – September 2, 2018.
