The New God

What difference does it make
if you die
if you are documented
if you are on television
(that's about as permanent
as you can get)
everyone will see you
hear you
know you/that which became you
long after
the abstract
outmoded,
electronically
silly body
imperfect you
is not around,
no one notices.

The view-you is better,
celluloid, silver screen,
larger than life View-you,
pancake make-up
public image
edited
filtered
enhanced
superimposed
reflected
doubled
softened
colored purple,
freeze shots
of open mouths.

The new God
did-it
in his
edit
room.
